Meryle Kates began her professional life in Toronto as Assistant Fashion and Beauty Editor for Chatelaine Magazine. Her career ambitions led to New York City, where she made her home for 17 years, and pursued a successful career that included executive positions in Fashion, Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising.
Returning to Toronto with her husband and children, Meryle became involved in the Jewish community. Volunteering and in professional roles as a community leader, advocating for Israel and educating against antisemitism. In 2013, Meryle launched StandWithUs Canada, and as Exective Director for 8 years, established the non-profit organization across Canada, dedicated to educating and empowering students on campus to stand proudly with Israel. Meryle was named, ‘one of the 50 most famous Jews in Canada’ by the Canadian Jewish News in 2015.
